Each Monday, I write a Motivation Monday post, which is to help motivate me and you in terms of physical well-being, both diet and exercise. I also include a “no” and a “yes” to help motivate us toward being physically healthy.
With this being the last day of the month, I thought it would be good to review how I’ve been doing with the no’s and yeses, and for those of you who haven’t been with me in this journey thus far, what they were. So let’s recap:
- I started the year with saying no to resolutions on weight loss or gas mileage and saying yes to a 100 day challenge to exercise 30 minutes a day for the first 100 days this year. I’ve done well on the no, despite going to the doctor and seeing how much I actually weighed (the horror, the horror) and it depressing the hell out of me. However, I haven’t done as well with the 100 day challenge. In fact, I’ve never done well with challenges like this and need to learn not to do them. Instead, to what I’m committing now is walking to work at the library, which is about a mile from where I live, three days a week. That will be a good start, especially here in the winter.
- I then challenged myself to no potato or corn chips and yes to fruits and vegetables. On this one, I’m doing better, again at least on the “no” front. I still need to ramp up on the fruit and vegetables, but I’m no longer eating potato or corn chips.
- Two weeks ago, I challenged myself to no candy bars and yes to granola or fruit bars. Here, I also am doing well, and yes, again, not as well on the “yes” part of it, but one thing at a time…well, actually three or four. 😉
- Last week I challenged myself to no soda and yes to water. Here, I’m doing better on both fronts, with drinking no soda and drinking more water than I have in the past.
So how are you doing with any challenges that you have issued to yourself this past month? Or have you been smart enough to not issue yourself any challenges?
