Stanzas 14 and 15 and Commentary on Them in The Spiritual Canticle by St. John of the Cross
My commentary on Section 23
So begin my mornings in quiet and I hope ever with God’s grace to be elevated from darkness to the light of the supernatural knowledge of God.
At times, it is foggy as if looking through a glass darkly. In fact, most times it is that way. I can’t even see the individual trees, let alone the forest. The shadowlands of which C.S. Lewis wrote, it is there where we reside. In the place between dark and light.
Lord, let me be quiet enough to see You each day. Amen.
